Mountain Zebra National park has 20 fully equiped airconditioned self-catering units which are serviced daily. They also boast a lovely restaurant if you are not in the mood to cook and do dishes. The shop is very small and limited, however basic supplies can be found. The camp has a fuel station for added convenience.
The swimming pool is available at the main rest camp for cooling down on those hot karoo days.
Camping and caravan sites with power points, communal kitchen and ablusions are provided. The Weltevrede and Fonteinkloof picnic areas with braai sites and picnic tables are located within the wildlife area. The first picnic area has a pool and the second a lovely rock pool.
Guided drives enjoy early morning or evening guided Game Drives. Self Drive Game viewing provides you an opportunity to enjoy viewing the multitude of wildlife species and beautiful scenery.
Relax in 2 bedroom family cottages or secluded mountain cottages (accessable only with high ground clearance vehicles)
Guided morning walk and hiking trails (1 -2 km) are available to explore and get the heart rate up.
Cheetah Tracking can be done to observe these magnificent big cats on foot. Four cheetah were released into the park in 2007, becoming the first large predators in the park’s history. Cheetahs are a threatened species (listed as vulnerable – IUCN Red Data List) and hence conserving this speedy predator – capable of attaining top speeds of over 110km per hour.
4×4 Loops (for 4×4 vehicles only) : Sonnenrust is 14.2km, Juriesdam 10km & Umngeni 8km.
